Project Reflect 2012 - Loss

Here is the prompt for Day 13:

December 13: Loss

We've all experienced loss at some point in our lives, whether it was the loss of a loved one or a family pet, or maybe you lost something that was deeply important to you that you can't get back. Did you experience loss in 2012? What was it, and how did it affect you emotionally?

This prompt really hits home, nine days ago I lost something that meant more to me than I can ever describe. I lost my little boy, my furr-baby, Tuxedo.  You know, I've lost a lot of pets to illness and old age, but I have never felt the way I do about this one. Tux was my child, he was my little boy, he was my baby. Even as I type this I have tears streaming down my face.

I found Sandi and Tuxedo about 6 years ago - they haven't left my side since.  Tuxedo was like no other cat, he showed love, and he showed affection. When I came home after a long day, or a particularly hard day, Tux would crawl into my lap and cuddle with me. He would walk up and rub his forehead on mine, almost as if to tell me it was okay, and that he was there. He was also Sandi's little brother. They fought like siblings, you would almost think they didn't like each other some days.  But if another cat picked on him, Sandi was quick to run to his rescue. But Tuxedo had a heart murmur, and with that came complications. But as a cat, he always did his best to hide his sickness.

I still find myself in tears during random moments throughout the day, and from time to time I still find Sandi looking under to table to see where he is.  We lost him way too soon, I lost my baby too soon.

I love you bubba, I love you Tuxedo.

  1. This made me cry. I have four cats and dread the day that one of them gets sick enough to be put down :(

I am so sorry for your loss :(
