People come and go from out lives. Some people stay for the long run, but some stay for a short period of time and leave us when we're most vulnerable. Have you met anyone this year that changed your life forever? Did you rekindle a friendship/relationship this year that you thought had died long ago?
Everyone has that friend that has been around since childhood. That friend that, no matter where you are in life, and how far you've drifted, you can pick up the phone, or run into them at the store, and it's like you just talked yesterday. I have that best friend, her name is Jamie. Jamie and I were inseparable since 5th grade. We did and went everywhere together, as time went on and we got older, we've drifted and come back together SEVERAL times. But we've never been so far apart that we couldn't call each other and get caught up on the recent gossip and each other's lives.
I have never been the most social person, and one thing that I have always loved about our friendship is how well she understands me. She knows and understands that I just don't get out much, and over time we have made this work. This year Jamie and I have started seeing each other more, and we are both making a conscious effort to see each other on at least a semi-regular basis so that we don't lose touch again. Her wedding is coming up in May and I couldn't be more excited! It's like we get to go back to when we were in junior high and high school planning our "dream weddings" except now, its for real :) So this one is for Jamie: Love you Squiggles!
Who is your closest friend, the one that has always been there, regardless of circumstances?
Have you rekindled any old friendships this year?
My closest friend is a friend from college, Katie. She is absolutely marvelous and I can't fathom life without her.
ReplyDeleteLOL. I love friendships, especially enduring ones. My phone dialed an old friend out of the blue as I was getting into bed night before last. I heard the "we will play this music until your party is reached...." music and I plucked my phone from my pocket. IT WAS ALICE! Ohmigawsh and she lives three time zones east of here. YIKES!!
ReplyDeleteI texted to apologize the next day...lol
That is so great! Nothing beats those great friendships!
