Going Outside the Lines

Greetings!  This is my first official (public) post to a blog, so I apologize for any awkwardness that may ensue.  A few days ago (3 to be exact) my friend Holly invited me last minute to something we have here in Oklahoma called "Wine & Palette".  What is Wine & Palette you ask?  Wine & Palette is an art class (specifically painting) that is held at any local wine bar in Oklahoma.  So in essence, you get together with a group of friends (or go alone if your into that king of thing), drink some wine, and put forth a considerable effort to paint a masterpiece similar to that of the artistic teacher.

I had heard of a couple of my friends going to these events from time to time, but who was I kidding, I'm an accountant, I don't have an artistic bone in my body; or as my mom so delicately put it: "You color inside the lines...with painting, there are no lines..." (She is a wise woman) However, that was followed by my own personal thought of, "You will be 25 years old in a month, and in a quarter of a century you can only count on one hand the times you did something outside the box or out of your comfort zone...DO IT." So I said yes.

(This is supposed to be Vincent van Gogh's "Starry Night")

This is something I would have never done without the push of a good friend, and after a few days of dwelling in the accomplished feeling, I've decided this is a feeling I'd like more often.  SO (finally getting to the point...) I'm going to vow to (try) and do something new and outside of the box - or better yet, outside of the lines - once a day, maybe once a week if it gets too monotonous.

Wish me luck!!

  1. Yay! Congrats to you. I just turned 25 in May. This whole quarter life crisis thing makes you realize that there is no better time than NOW.
